The Worksheet, in the word’s original impying, is a piece of paper on which one performs activity. They arrive in many kind shapes, most ussually associated with children’s school activity task, tax forms, and accounting or another business sphere. Software is increasingly taking over the paper-based worksheet.
It can be a printed page that a child finishes with a writing instrument. No materials are required. It is “a sheet of paper on which work schedules, working time, special guides, etc. are noted. A scrap of paper on which issues, ideas, or the like, are set down in temporary form.” In school, a worksheet may have questions for students or places to record answers.
In department of accounting, a worksheet is, or was, a piece of ruled paper with rows and columns on which an accountant could write information or perform calculations. These are oft called columnar pads, also exclusively green-tinted.
In computing, spreadsheet software presents, on a PC monitor, a user interface that such one or more paper accounting worksheets. Microsoft Excel, a favorite spreadsheet software, bases on a single spreadsheet (more technically, a 2 dimensional matrix or array) as a worksheet, or it refers to a group of worksheets as a workbook.
