A worksheet, in the word’s original meaning, is a piece of paper on which 1 performs work. They arrive in several type shapes, most ussually linked with junior school work assignments, tax forms, and accounting or other business environments. Software is increasingly taking over the paper-based worksheet.
It could be a printed page that a kid finishes with a writing equipment. No materials are needed. It is “a single paper on which work schedules, working time, special hints, etc. are noted. A sheet of paper on which problems, ideas, or the like, are set down in tentative form.” In education, a worksheet may have questions for students and where to write answers.
In department of accounting, a worksheet is, or was, a sheet of instructed paper with rows and columns on which an accountant could record information or perform calculations. These are oft named columnar pads, and exclusively green-tinted.
In computing, spreadsheet application presents, on a PC monitor, a user interface that alike one or more paper accounting worksheets. MS Excel, a favorite spreadsheet program, refers to a single spreadsheet (more technically, a two-dimensional matrix or array) as a worksheet, or it refers to a collection of worksheets as a workbook.
